About Us

With 8 years of experience, Michael Knott, Residential Contractor, Inc. began serving Highlands County in the aluminum specialty industry on March 1, 1983. We began by renting warehouse space on Highway 27 South and started with three employees. In 1989, we bought the building on Kenilworth Blvd. and have been here ever since. To date, we have sold over 7,500 jobs, both large and small. We currently employee eight specialty installers and two office personnel. The scope of our work has expanded from basic aluminum construction to general residential remodeling. We install awnings, carports, screen rooms, pool enclosures, glass rooms and utility buildings. Complete exterior home renovations, including vinyl siding and soffit, shutters, gutters and window replacements are a big part of our business. We have designed and installed custom aluminum railings, bahama shutters, storm panels and accordion shutters.

In 1997, Jim Kimmel was brought on board to handle the general residential remodeling needs of the business. Kimmel and Knott Construction Services was formed under the umbrella of Michael Knott, Residential Contractor, Inc. with Jim serving as Vice-President of the corporation and having complete control of that area of the business. Jim has over 30 years of experience in the construction trades with hands-on knowledge of every phase of home construction, including concrete block and wood frame.

Michael Knott, Residential Contractor, Inc. is a small, locally owned and operated business. We are proud of the reputation we have built over the years and look forward to meeting you and serving your construction needs. All sales calls are handled by either Michael Knott or Jim Kimmel, depending upon the nature of the work to be done. Our customers are not exposed to pushy commissioned sales reps.
